Hello,My name is Don Sallenbach, I am a self taught artist who works with steel. As you can see I create metal fish, crab and sea turtle sculptures My affection, enthusiasm and respect of fish and other water animals goes way back. I grew up in Southern California in a valley not far from the beach and the mountain streams and rivers. I now live in the upper Midwest, near Lake Michigan explaining why I like to make both salt and fresh water fish. I draw from my interest and pleasure in fishing and am anxious to share this interest with others.As an artist, I have been very lucky, from the time I was young there have always been people in my life that have encouraged me to create and build . In the summer of 2005, I took some time off to work for a friend at his art studio. That is where I made my first metal fish sculpture. I was hooked. I devoted the next four summers building sculptures and helping customers, at the art studio, build their own sculptures, as well.With the support of my family and friends, I now sculpt in my own studio as a full time artist.
